10 The authority of the Organization to establish definitions and conditions for official travel is found in Article VII of the Staff Regulations. Further details are given also in Section 8 of the Staff Rules.
20 Official travel is defined as travel for any purpose, the cost of which is borne by the Organization, and may be either duty travel or statutory travel. For information on statutory travel (Home-Leave, family visit, one-way approved travel, educational grant leave, medical evacuation) refer to section III.8.
30 Duty travel is defined as travel on mission for the Organization or on the invitation of the Organization.
40 Duty travel may also include travel at the invitation of outside institutions or other parties for a specific purpose or activity related to the work of WHO, the cost of which may be borne by the party concerned. Where duty travel is funded and arranged by another party, the travel entitlements of that entity will be applicable for the travel undertaken.
