10 Members of panels are normally appointed for a period of not more than four years.
20 Two months prior to the end date of an expert’s appointment ePanel sends an email to the concerned Secretary of the Panel requesting a recommendation for either renewal or non-renewal of that appointment. If warranted by specific programme requirements, an appointment may be renewed for periods of up to four years.
30 The Secretary of the Panel and her/his director indicate on the electronic form in ePanel whether or not they recommend renewal of the appointment. ePanel will then send the recommendation to the regional director concerned for comments and to the assistant director-general concerned for decision.
40 If panel members are appointed as staff members of WHO or of another agency in the United Nations system, their panel membership is suspended for the duration of the appointment. They are normally reinstated on the panel as soon as their United Nations appointment is terminated.
