10 The duties and obligations of staff members on becoming candidates for public office of a political character are set out in Staff Regulation 1.8, which states that:
"Any staff member who becomes a candidate for a public office of a political character shall resign from the Secretariat."
20 Effective 30 January 2008, following careful consideration of the Regulation, the Director-General has decided that the requirement of Staff Regulation 1.8 that staff members resign when they become candidates for public office of a political nature shall be applied in all circumstances. This decision serves to fully implement the requirements of Staff Regulation 1.8, allowing for consistent and harmonized application across the board.
