10 Staff Regulation 1.5 establishes the duty of staff members "to conduct themselves at all times in a manner compatible with their status as international civil servants". Noting that they "...are not expected to give up their national sentiments or their political...convictions", Staff Regulation 1.5 calls upon all staff members to "bear in mind the reserve and tact incumbent [upon them] by reason of their international status."
20 Staff members may express their political opinions through the exercise of their right to vote. In exercising any right to vote, staff members should take note that they continue to be bound by the standards of conduct set out in Article 1 of the Staff Regulations, and the requirement that they conduct themselves at all times in a manner compatible with their status as international civil servants and with the reserve and tact required by reason of that status.
