10 On the death of a staff member, whose death does not result in any indemnity payment from the Organization's Personal Accident and Illness Insurance policy, a payment shall be made to:
- the spouse or, if none,
- the children recognized under Staff Rule 310.5.2 in equal shares
20 The grant shall be made in accordance with provisions contained in Staff Rule 770 as follows:

30 In the absence of a spouse or children eligible for such payment, there is no entitlement to grant in case of death.
40 The grant is paid by the office responsible for the settlement of the staff member's terminal emoluments. It is payable whether the death is service-incurred or not, provided that the other conditions of the rule are met.
50 In accordance with Staff Rule 770, on the death of a staff member on a temporary appointment whose death does not result in any indemnity payment from the Organization's accident and illness insurance policy, a payment will be made to the spouse or, if none, the children recognized under Staff Rule 310.5.2. The grant shall be paid in accordance with the schedule set out in Staff Rule 770.2.
