10 An end-of-service grant is payable to eligible staff members in recognition of their service to the Organization.
20 Staff members holding a fixed-term appointment whose appointment is not renewed are eligible for an end-of-service grant under Staff Rule
375 provided that:
- they have completed five (5) years of continuous qualifying service;
- their performance has been certified as being satisfactory under the performance management and development system or other previous record(s) of performance;
- they have neither received nor declined an offer of renewal of appointment; and
- they have not reached the mandatory age of retirement (65), as defined under Staff Rule
1020.
30 Periods of special leave without pay as well as periods of sick leave under insurance of more than thirty (30) days will not be credited for purposes of qualifying service.
40 For the purposes of determining continuous qualifying service for end-of-service grant, uninterrupted, active service with organizations of the United Nations common system obtained immediately prior to transfer to WHO shall be credited to eligible staff members on transfer to WHO in accordance with Staff Rule
480.1.4.
50 Pursuant to Staff Rule
480.2, staff members who are transferred to another organization of the United Nations common system shall not be paid end-of-service grant but his/her credit for qualifying service with WHO shall be passed to the receiving organization. The subsequent entitlement of staff members shall be governed by the rules of the receiving organization.
60 The amount of the grant is based on a staff member's years of service and is fixed according to the schedule contained in Staff Rule
1050.10 for termination of fixed-term appointments.
