​​10    In accordance with Staff Rule 610.3, a staff member who is unable to report for duty is required to notify their supervisor within four hours after the beginning of the work day if possible to do so. Supervisors must  immediately notify their Human Resources Business Partner/Regional HR Manager of the unauthorized absence of a staff member.  Director HRT will coordinate the investigation of each case of unauthorized absence in consultation with the relevant office. Failure by the staff member to provide satisfactory justification for the unauthorized absence may result in disciplinary action being taken.  (See III.10.15 Abandonment of position​).

20    ​Staff Rule 610.5 provides that no salary shall be paid to  staff members in respect of periods of unauthorized absence from work unless such absence was due to reasons beyond their control, (See III.5.6 Withholding of salary for unauthorized absences​).
