​​​​​10    This applies to staff members absenting themselves from duty without satisfactory explanation for more than fifteen working days. Action is initiated by the Organization and the appointment is terminated if the staff member has not replied to the Organization's attempt to locate them or if the explanation given for the absence from duty is considered unsatisfactory.

20    If there is no other means of tracing an absent person, the Organization will have complied with the requirement to make "every reasonable attempt to locate" a staff member if it has sent to the last known address a registered communication which has been returned unclaimed.

30    The HR Officer concerned ​​will place all the related documentation in the staff member's personnel file and will inform the HR Action plan owner or their designee to initiate the separation action. After the separation action is initiated, the HR Administrator, GSC undertakes the appropriate administrative action and HRT will record the decision of the abandonment of position into the HR personnel file.

40    A candidate alert shall be inserted into the electronic recruitment system and will prevent the staff member from being considered for any future employment with the Organization.
