10   All maps used in publications used in WHO publications and external publications (see section VIII.6.3) authored or co-authored by WHO staff members should follow United Nations practice with respect to representation of international boundaries. Maps should be cleared by LEG before being finalized, unless they are based entirely on the template map of the world or WHO regions available through the WHO GIS Centre for Health, without any modification.

12  In external publications, the WHO copyright notice and disclaimer for maps should be included as a footnote under each WHO map (see section VIII.6.5, paragraph 40). If other maps are used in external publications co-authored with external authors, the relevant copyright notice or source should also be included as a footnote under the map concerned.

20   WHO, as a specialized agency of the United Nations, follows the terminology used by the United Nations, particularly with regard to the names of Member States. Guidance on the correct forms of names of Member States is available from various sources, including the WHO style guide (see section VIII.2.5), the latest list of WHO Member States and the United Nations Terminology Database. In case of doubt, LEG should be consulted.
