10 Data may be collected from a range of sources in Member States. These sources include surveys, administrative data, modelling estimates and country-specific standard data collection portals or tools (such as the WHO global TB data collection system, the International Health Regulations (2005) State Party Self-Assessment Annual Reporting tool, the National Health Workforce Accounts system and the WHO Outbreak Toolkit, and WHO NCD microdata surveys.
20 The World Health Data Hub (see section XXII.1.3), which is available in all official languages, has been designed to enable a bidirectional communication mechanism between WHO and Member States. and has a country portal. The World Health Data Hub and its country portal aim to be the main way of collecting and transferring data to WHO. Designed to the highest standards, the data management component is integrated, and technical units will use the portal for collection, validation, and transfer of data from member states.
30 Data collection platforms must adhere to appropriate security and access controls in the form of user authentication, blocking access to unauthorized users and ensuring encryption for data in internal or external transit (see section X1V.3.1).
