10    The cost of all officially required medical examinations and immunizations (both required and recommended) is borne by the Organization for the staff member and those of their family members who are authorized to travel at the expense of the Organization. Reimbursement by the Organization is limited to US$ 350 for all regions with the exception of i) Europe where the maximum limit is US$400 and ii) the USA and Japan where the maximum limit is US$450. The cost of any other examination, apart from those described in section III.15, Medical examinations for accompanying family members at certain official stations, or immunization is borne by the staff member and reimbursed according to the rules of the WHO Staff Health Insurance (see III.20 Annex 7.A).

20    If the staff physician believes that without outside assistance they cannot make any determination on the fitness of a staff member for the assignment proposed for them by the Organization, the staff physician may send the staff member for examination by another physician or request them to undergo tests which the staff physician does not have the facilities to perform themself. The cost of such outside examination is borne by the Organization. However, if the staff physician suggests to a staff member that in their own interest they might be wise to consult a physician about some condition not directly affecting their capacity for work, the staff member is expected to bear the expense of the consultation and may claim reimbursement from the WHO Staff Health Insurance.

30    The cost of treatment, being distinct from the cost of examination, is borne by the staff member. They may claim reimbursement from the WHO Staff Health Insurance, or, if the injury or illness for which they required treatment was service-incurred, from the Organization under the compensation provisions of III.20 Annex 7.E
